13 January 2005 ,Jimmy Griffin, a founding member of 70's soft-rock group Bread, died of cancer at the age of 61.

Griffin was the guitarist and co-songwriter for Bread when they formed in 1969. He was also part of the 25th anniversary reunion tour of 1997 after mending his relationship with co-founder David Gates.

Jimmy originally left Bread in 1973 after a dispute with Gates over song writing. While they divided the song writing chore equally, it was Gates who scored most of the singles. Ironically, Griffin co-wrote one of The Carpenters biggest hits 'For All We Know' but didn't pen any Bread hits.

He rejoined Bread in 1977 and the group had another hit with 'Lost Without Your Love'. The Gates / Griffin feud started up again and once again Jimmy left. This time, Gates continued on as Bread and Griffin sued him for using the name.

Gates was ordered to not use the name until the court resolved the case. That didn't happen until 1984.

Bread had a string of hits in the 70s including 'Make It With You', 'It Don't Matter To Me', 'If', 'Let Your Love Go' and 'Baby I'm A Want You'.

After Bread, Jimmy worked with former Eagles member Randy Meisner in Black Tie. He also performed occasionally in the tongue-in-cheek named Toast.

He recently recorded backing vocals on the upcoming Frank Black album 'Honeycomb'.

Jimmy was vacationing in Hawaii earlier this year when he developed what he thought was a laryngitis he couldn't shake. His doctor diagnosed it as lung cancer.

He leaves behind his wife Marti, his daughter Alexis and his son Jacob.

So would a 35th 25th anniversary Bread  reunion tour of 2007 be the same without Griffin ?

Could they call Craig Boardman ( Gimmy Jiffin ) ?

Would they call it Bread ?

Rising Damp The Opera 2006 ?

Rising Damp is the action of water moving vertically through porous building material in contact with the ground. This is brought about by the drying action of air on upper surfaces, which causes the wall to act like a wick. Water will move up the wall by capillary action and evaporate from the surface into the atmosphere. 

The height to which the dampness may rise varies accordingly to construction but rarely exceeds 1 meter above ground level.

Water coming from the soil will have dissolved various nitrate, chloride and other salts (called ground salts) and will carry these salts up into the brickwork and plaster.

As the water evaporates over a prolonged period of time an ever increasing amount of these salts will be deposited in the wall. 

As these ground salts are easily dissolved they also readily attract moisture from the atmosphere (Hygroscopic Salts). This means that even if the rising damp is cured the plaster may continue to be damp. For this reason the plaster is normally removed when treating rising damp.

Any wall treated for rising damp still has to dry out. The re-plastering specification contains special materials which allow this to take place naturally without the ground salts in the brickwork reaching the surface.

Rising damp suffered by properties with a timber ground floor may also suffer from problems associated with wood rot. A sub floor inspection is strongly recommended.

Talk was of a all Male BBC comedy show called THE DOG HOUSE  influenced by the all Female BBC comedy show called  THE POWDER ROOM. 

THE POWDER ROOM  , a Six parter  featuring  Julia Morris, Gina Yashere and Lucy Porter, three of the most feisty and talented stand-ups on the comedy circuit, who join forces to form Radio 2’s first all-female comedy team.

Combining the 'sensibility of Vogue with the sensitivity of Viz', The Powder Room gives a female take on a whole range of topical issues, with a blend of improv, sketches, stand-up and ritual humiliation of the studio audience.

THE DOG HOUSE   , a  POTENTIAL NON STARTER could have been   featuring  Ian Smith , Ian Wright  and  Craig Boardman , three of the most potentially  feisty and potentially  talented  potential stand-ups on the comedy circuit, who could have joined   forces to form Radio 2’s first post feminist  all-Male comedy team.
